Retirement in Moore County (Pinehurst) North Carolina with warm weather and golfing
Moore County North Carolina, especially the southern end, has long been a popular destination for retirees from the north who long for gentler winters and the slower pace of small towns filled with activities or quiet isolation or stimulating conversations and projects. Whatever mood one is in, the area offers complementary opportunities.
Want to fulfill that dream of golfing daily? You can do it here. Want to give back to the world? This area offers a range of volunteer opportunities from working in literacy programs to helping out at a golf tournament. Want to learn some skill you have never had time for? The college will make it possible. Want to enjoy history? Try the Airbourne & Special Operations Museum in Fayetteville, the railroad museum in Hamlet, the Shaw House in Southern Pines.
Retirees find themselves near various art museums in surrounding counties and in Raleigh as well as substantial libraries in Southern Pines, Carthage, and at Sandhills Community College.
They can wander or go birding in nearby Weymouth Woods or take part in one of the many plays, films, and activities provided by the Moore County Arts Council.
In short, whether you are retiring into consultant status or looking forward to carving out something entirely new, Moore County can be a terrific place to reinvent yourself.

It’s a beautiful day in Pinehurst, North Carolina! It’s not all that unusual for us to experience warm, sunny days here in the North Carolina Sandhills during late autumn/early winter. Typically in mid-December, we would have temperatures during the day in the 50s.
